重庆大学会计学系创办历史悠久，早在重庆大学商学院（1937年创立，重庆大学经济与工商管理学院前身）诞生之初便作为商学院创院三个系之一，著名会计学家丁洪范教授、叶沛婴教授、潘序伦教授、朱国璋教授曾先后任职于会计学系。解放后由于全国院校调整停办一段时间，1991年开始从校内其他专业大二学生中组建会计专业班级，1993年正式恢复高考招生，恢复建系。
目前，本专业是重庆市2018年首批本科一流专业立项建设项目、是重庆市优势特色专业，2019年获批全国首批本科一流专业建设项目，已经拥有会计学博士学位、硕士学位、会计专业硕士学位（MPAcc）授予权，成为在西南地区有优势，在全国有影响的学科，拥有25位在岗教师，基本都获得博士学位，包括教授10位教授、10位副教授、3位弘深青年教师、2位讲师。本专业秉承“立足实践、开拓视野、凝练特色、持续发展”的办学理念，形成了会计理论与方法扎实、视野和思维开阔、实践能力突出、具有高度社会责任感的复合型、研究型专业人才培养特色。在学术研究方面，会计学科的主要研究方向为会计与资本市场、会计理论与会计准则、公司财务与公司治理、审计和税务。在研究方法上注重实证研究和规范研究并举，积极倡导现代经验和分析研究工具的应用。
The Department of Accounting at Chongqing University has a long and prestigious history. It was established as one of the three founding departments of the School of Business at Chongqing University (founded in 1937, the predecessor of the School of Economics and Business Administration). Renowned accounting scholars such as Professor Ding Hongfan, Professor Ye Peiying, Professor Pan Xulun, and Professor Zhu Guozhang have served in the Department of Accounting since its inception.After a period of suspension due to national educational adjustments following the liberation, the department was re-established in 1991 by forming accounting classes with second-year students from other majors. In 1993, it officially resumed recruiting students through the national college entrance examination and fully restored its status as a department.
Currently, the Accounting major is part of Chongqing's first batch of undergraduate first-class specialty construction projects in 2018 and is recognized as an advantageous and distinctive specialty in Chongqing. In 2019, it was approved as one of the first batch of national undergraduate first-class specialty construction projects. The department has the authority to confer doctoral and master's degrees in accounting, as well as a Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) degree. It is considered a discipline with regional advantages in the southwestern part of China and has a significant impact nationally.The department has 25 faculty members, all of whom hold doctoral degrees. This includes 10 professors, 10 associate professors, 3 HongshenYoungFaculty, and 2 lecturers. Adhering to the educational philosophy of "practical foundation, broadening horizons, refining characteristics, and sustainable development," the department has developed a distinctive approach to train composite and research-oriented professional talents in accounting. In terms of academic research, the main research areas include accounting and capital markets, accounting theory and standards, corporate finance and corporate governance, auditing, and taxation. The department emphasizes empirical and normative research methods and actively promotes the application of modern experiential and analytical research tools.
